why do I always seem to start these? (a.k.a. the official metal thread)

"Heavy metal or no metal at all! Wimps and posers leave the hall!" Manowar said it best, although they're one of the cheesiest bands in all of metal history! It's time to get ragin' on these like they were back on the music thread of our dearly missed hotbraille. The way this forum works though, I have a feeling this will be the only thread we'll ever need to create, no more moving down the page! Come on all you undergrounders who like real metal like Iron Maiden, Dio, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Napalm Death, Kreator, Accept, the list could go on... come on and get in the pit and let's begin the metallization! For those who stumbled upon this thread and want to learn more about good metal to see if you can handle it or not, you've perhaps come to the right place! Strap on your boots and let's kick some ass!

Well hey all ye metal warriors! the take over has begun, and it's time to rock! I've been giving the latest Cryptopsy album Nun So Live a spin, and man it's quite a brutal album if any of you are looking for something to piss off your neighbors! Oh yes, I would like to expand on what my partner in crime said in the previous post, when we say metal, we don't mean tha manufactured crud that passes for metal these days meaning stuff like green day, limp biskit, hubustink, and others like that. We are talking more along the lines of Stratovarius, nightwish, hammerfall, gorgasm, cannibal corpse, abuse, disgorge, disavowed, pyaemia, origin, and countless others! Anyway, let's start posting!

Man I love dc++! I've been finding lots of rare stuff on there. I've just been getting some cannibal corpse demos, namely the created to kill demo witch is one of the very last recordings with their former vocalist Chriss Barns now founder of the group six feet under. Here are a few metal hubs for you to check out, grindcore.no-ip.org, and paladin.sublevels.net just to name a few!

I also have some stuff from the group Incubus, and I'm talking about the death metal band that shares the same name as the alternative group that's played on comercial radio. This group is from Brasil, and they had an album called Beyond The Unknown, so if anyone would like to hear some tracks from it, I do have the album ripped to my computer. Another group that did the identical name thing was Slaughter, there was the hare metal band from the states, and here in Canada there was an old school death metal band with the same name, they had an album called Strapad.

Just a small correction to my last message, the album from the death metal version of the band slaughter is called Strapado. I guess I hit the backspace key one too many times, blame it on the coffee!

I heard the Canadian band Slaughter on Lethal Mayhem and it seems you and I are the only ones posting. If you head over to eyes2eyes, I found a couple other closet Metallers who like the good stuff like Iron Maiden and the like. I wonder if we ever meet Japanese people who rike big band Brined O Guardian and listen to Night o the Opela or Night o Far in Midder Art! hahahahaha! Well, I decided to get anal-retentive again and organize all my music into folders. It turns out winamp plays them good after all, you just have to use add directory and if you click on your music folder, it'll play everything in every subfolder you have without you having to manually open everything and have it be a pain in the ass! I swear, with zonebbs and eyes2eyes, it's gonna be a double-massacre and we'll spread far more of our metal disease than we ever did on HB!

I haven't been exposed to metal that much, anyone know where I should start? Even better, if you run DC++, get on booknet.interfree.ca (min. share = 1 gig min. slots=1 per hub) so I can grab stuff from you. You can also find me on 5th elemental, The Library and The Secret Garden

Well for those who don't know, the new Iced Earth ep comes out sometime this month, and the full length glorius burdan album comes out in the new year. That's gonna be my first time hearing Iced Earth with new vocalist Tim Owens. Also the new blind guardian double live cd is out as of today, and I know that my partner in crime is looking forward to that one!

I've never heard of Blind Guardian, or Iced Earth. They sound cool

Post 10 by metal_girl (Account disabled) on Monday, 13-Oct-2003 19:34:32

you can go to these sites to find out about them

http://www.blind-guardian.com
http://www.icedearth.com

Blind Guardian are my #1 favorite and if you also want to check out another awesome band, check out Demons & Wizards. They're a side project of Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian and Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth. They put out a studio album in 2000 and there was a bootleg cd recorded at a festival in Germany, but they're due out for a second album pretty soon. I used to be obsessed, infatuated, and utterly devoted to Hansi, but now that I have a real person to love, that obsession is fading. It's not totally gone, so I have to watch out for relapses, hehe. By the way, if you're using a screen reader, it should be said like honsy and not the stupid Americanized way those things read it!

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. I never was a big metal fan, but I've listened to some, and it sounds pretty cool

Ok, time to dig this thread up. Cortney, I didn't know you had heard of Blind Guardian! Too much influence from me I suppose, hehe. Soulfly sucks, they're not real metal imho.

Well I just found one of the best metal hubs on dc++, it has almost two thousand users online at the moment, and the address is metalhub.sytes.net. So there you have it! enjoy!

Ah! Good to see the metal thread back up and running! i've not been on much lately so greetings to everyone in the mosh pit!!

it's festival season over here in the UK and it's less than a month until the Donnington monsters of rock festival which has been ressorected after 7 years, i'll let ya all know the line up soon as I find out ... needless to say i've already got a ticket though!

Hmmm, just discovered a new band from Scandanavia ... where else, they are called sins of thy beloved, certainly worth checking out if ya get the chance!

catch ya all again soon!

I've heard the name but not the music. I'll have to check them out. You go on and have your UK fests, the ones I'm jealous of are the BYH words and the W word that happen over in Deutschland. GRR! Oh yeah, and there's the DVD of the other fest from last year I'm still waiting endlessly for, double-GRR! I tried that metal hub but you need at least 10 gb sharesize, triple-GRR! Methinks I'm GRR-ing too much, gotta save that voice of mine, I'm a melodic singer not a death growler. Although, Hansi can almost growl, you know that part on Demons & Wizards My Last Sunrise where he's like "Gol...! go...! the...!" Hmm, that may have been an effect though as he sucks at growling compared to Matt Barlow.
